What it means
The throttle position sensor reports how far the throttle plate is open. P0121 is a rationality code: the TPS signal voltage is within the electrical limits but does not match what the computer expects based on other inputs like engine RPM and MAP readings. A contaminated or worn TPS track is the usual cause. On drive-by-wire (electronic throttle) systems, this code points to the throttle body position sensor rather than a cable-operated unit, and the fix is usually a throttle body service or replacement.
